IMPERIAL PARAFFIN SOLVENT IMPERIA (IPS 224) is used when a well becomes plugged by paraffin forming in the tubing or on the sucker rods, or when the flow lines are plugged by paraffin, it is necessary to clean out the lines before starting a prevention program with dispersants or crystal modifiers.
IPI 224 may be used in concentrated form or mixed with oil to dissolve and remove existing deposits. Solvents work by reducing the deposit to a soft mush, which can be flushed from the system by the produced oils. If paraffin is a complicating factor in the oil/water emulsions, emulsion breakers are generally improved by diluting with IPI 224.
Many factors affect the performance of paraffin control chemicals; therefore, it is important to have the right application. A specific treating recommendation should be made only after a complete evaluation of the system has been made.
